I have presentations on a number of subjects available to be given at a wide variety of events: herpetological societies, scientific meetings, clubs etc. All presentations are powerpoint/photographically driven and feature subjects near and dear to my heart. They have been previously presented for many other audiences, including:  American Association of Zookeepers (Palm Beach Chapter), Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, The Palm Beach Zoo, Repticon Herp Shows, the South Florida Herpetological Society, The St. Lucie Herpetological Society, and The Suncoast Herpetological Society. Email JDHolbrook AT for the author’s C.V./resume as well as scheduling, pricing and other information. Presentations run 45 minutes or more depending on audience questions.

HERPWATCH: Observing Reptiles and Amphibians in the Wild – This presentation is geared towards groups interested in the art of field herping, that is, observing Reptiles and Amphibians in the wild. It is typically best for those at a beginner through intermediate level interest in herping, though it can be tailored for many different skill levels with sufficient advanced notice.

Photographic Lighting – A presentation for beginner and intermediate photographers (especially nature/herp interested photographers), covering natural and artificial lighting as foundations of photography and discussing methods for each.

Pythons in the Park – For high school and adult level audiences covering the invasive Burmese Pythons (Python molurus bivittatus) in southern Florida, including aspects of their natural history and beginnings in Florida. A similar presentation for college level audiences is available focusing mainly on their possible effect on mammal populations in the Everglades based on the presenter’s own published research.

The Paraguayan Chaco: Flora, Fauna and Culture – A glimpse at one of the most fascinating biodiversity hotspots in the world: a land of vast scrubby forests, jaguars and serpents, this presentation is based loosely on the authors travels in the region.

The Reptiles and Amphibians of the Paraguayan Chaco – A travelogue of the author’s travels in the northern reaches of Paraguay focusing on the Reptiles and Amphibians encountered on the trip, including the stunning Argentine Boa, Tricolored Hognose, Chacoan Monkey Treefrog, and many others.

The Spotted Turtle: Ecology and Husbandry – A look at one of the finest pet turtles in the world; delving into their behavior and habitat in the wild as well as their care and breeding in captivity, based on the author’s over ten years of experience with the species.
