Lifelist: Florida Pinesnake (Pituophis melanoleucus mugitus)

13 Dec

Country: USA

State: Florida

County: Okeechobee

Date: March 2007

Co-herpers: Jason Thullbery

Notes: My shots of the original were pretty bad, so I substituted in this one I found later. Jason and I had done a long bit of herping that week over Spring Break, and really hadn’t turned up that much. But we kept it up and the last evening we were rewarded with a small Florida Pinesnake which we’d originally mistaken for a Cornsnake when we passed it – if you want to read the whole story of our Spring Break Odyssey, it’s in A Field Guide to the Snakes of Southern Florida.
